What
is Gleaning?
After harvest, there is an
abundance of high quality
marketable produce left in
the field. The Ag Against
Hunger gleaning program
coordinates the picking of
these crops left after
commercial harvest and
donates the produce to local
food banks and pantries.

shares inspirational gleaning stories.
How much time does it
take?
Volunteers should expect to
commit around three hours
(9:00am to 12:00pm) for each
gleaning session (includes
time driving to and from the
field, orientation and the
actual harvesting of
crops).
Ag Against Hunger does not
have the resources to
provide transportation;
therefore volunteers caravan
to the field from our
cooler.
How can you get involved?
The
Ag Against Hunger gleaning season begins
on Friday, May 7, 2010. View the

Gleaning sessions are held
every other Saturday, though
interested parties are
advised to call in advance
to receive the schedule.
Volunteers meet at 9:00 am
(except when otherwise
noted) at a designated meeting spot,
dependant on field location. From the cooler
we caravan to the designated
field. All gleaners must
sign
this waiver before
participating in the glean;
all gleaners 18 and younger
must have a waiver signed by
a parent or legal guardian. For more information,
please contact Karen DeWitt at Ag Against
Hunger, at 831-755-1480
(office), or
contact us.
All gleaning equipment and
supplies are provided by Ag
Against Hunger. Please wear
comfortable clothes and
closed shoes or boots. You
will need to bring gloves, a
hat, sunscreen, and a
container to take fresh
produce home with you. Khaki
Hats (pictured on the left) are on sale
for $10. Call 755-1480 to order yours!
It takes both time and money to make a
significant difference in our
communities. Monetary donations help us
alleviate hunger by providing resources
and funding to our program so we may
continue to provide fresh produce to the
hungry in our communities. For every
dollar donated, 40 pounds of fresh
produce goes to people in need. There
are a number of ways to give. You can
donate through this secured site or
mail your donation
directly to our office. We also have
a planned giving program which allows
you or your company to support Ag
Against Hunger into the future. Through
planned gifts donors can make a
significant impact on those in need over
an extended period of time. Call us at
831-755-1480 for more information about
becoming an Ag Against Hunger donor.
